What is Torbay ArtsBase?Torbay ArtsBase is a forum for local artists, that aims to help promote and celebrate all forms of The Arts within the Bay. The second Thursday in every month is a chance for anybody involved in The Arts to get together at an ArtsBase meeting, where they can chat about what they do, swap ideas, offer and receive help in projects and hopefully just enjoy being sociable with others in the artistic and creative community. If you would like to attend one of these evenings please just turn up at 7:30pm at The Blue Walnut in Walnut Road, Chelston. Every year TAB holds an Awards Ceremony at which exceptional artistic achievement is recorded. Rewards are presented to those individuals and groups whose contribution to the development of the cultural landscape of the Bay have been particularly noteworthy. Their contribution might have been in producing, developing, or promoting Arts in any one of its forms. The table below shows the winners of Torbay ArtsBase Awards for 2007. These were presented at the ceremony which was held at Oldway Mansion on 28th September. The winners were chosen from over 100 nominated groups and individuals and this proves just how vibrant the Arts are in Torbay. The Awards were an opportunity for the finalists to meet others in the Torbay Arts World and to share with them in the celebration and recognition of the best in the Bay this year. The evening included performances by Hannah Williams, Sarcere, Silva Danca, Simplicity Complex and The Rumor and was attended by over 150 people.
